I used to hesitate to use the word leadership. It reminded me of meaningless job titles, or that one, incredible person that could inspire and mobilise thousands. (Note: in many organisations power is assumed to mean leader, but they're not the same thing). Now I see leadership in a different way. I view it as a practice we can all cultivate, skills we can develop to sense into emergent possibilities. I know leadership to be less about being in front (though it can be), and more about holding presence. Leadership that can trust an inner compass, with compassion, wisdom and courage, for the shared benefit of the whole. And in this time, we need a whole lot more of this type of leadership. 1.
